Warning: This post is long but well worth reading.

So here are the results from the voting on Tuesday. Just as a bit of information for all. The local newspapers are still talking about the past and not looking at the future of Dacono. These newspapers are also the same ones that were telling you to vote Yes on HH. Do your own research as these newspapers are not currently giving you an unbiased opinion.

Dacono Ballot Issue 2D - High Plains Library District - Didn't pass

This didn't pass by a very narrow margin. One might say that if the current city council was to look at why, they would realize that the only reason would be the mill levy. Maybe the city council can find a way to help the citizens of Dacono to enjoy a public resource that most all cities enjoy.

Dacono Ballot Question 2E - All measures by resolution - Passed

You as a citizen should follow this question. Ask yourself, will you see this measure being used at all. If you check, most all of this ballot question was already being done and was addressed in the charter. Now that all issues will be a resolution or ordinance, do you expect to ever see a veto used against either? Do your research. We will keep you posted.

Dacono Ballot Question 2F - Open government / Disclosure of your identity - Passed

Having an open form of government is good for all of the citizens of Dacono. Let's follow this and see if that is what is given to the citizens of Dacono. As far as limiting discussion, when has limiting discussion ever lead to great decisions? Most of the time you want varying opinions and discussions so as to provide a more diverse and informed decision. Lastly, everyone will now get to know their neighbors even more. Does it really matter who you know when you give your opinion? Hopefully everyone is speaking for what they believe and not just speaking for someone else.

Dacono Ballot Question 2G - Council member start / Mayor Pro-tem - Passed

When new council members take office was already written into the charter. This hasn't changed. The change for Mayor Pro-tem will not change much for the citizens as this person only fills in when the Mayor is not there or able to perform the duties as Mayor. If they are performing that job too often, the city probably has a bigger problem then who is the Mayor Pro-tem.

Thanks for reading all of this information and thanks for voting. Remember, you can always go to a city council meeting to let them know what's on your mind. One of the jobs of city council is to listen to the citizens of the city.
